Here at the domain we try to be Crazy, if I don't see a Mad Scientist in the work's every time I walk around the corner than I don't I know if we can be allies ;^)
and Yes.. I believe is the answer to you're question, I will also be playing on the server as a common joe in the coal mine's, so don't be afraid to ask for help.

Server basic's
The FTB Domain is a raw server when it comes to starting out, it comes to making you and you're wit's in the end, whether or not you make allies or don't the tide's are in you're hands.. make it wisely. it is best to make allies' along the way as they can be useful in sticky situation's and Progression. Maybe you will be the Ally someone else needs one day?
