##Setup of my own Minecraft server
The blockcraft video game Minecraft has become a true phenomenon. Over 100 million registered users speak for themselves. Every day, people from all over the world work on block constructions, explore the open world of the game and play with each other online. Many building block architects want to create their own Minecraft server for multiplayer mode: This is particularly useful if you value individual settings and only want to play with friends. But how do you set up a Minecraft server and which server is best suited for it? You can also get Minecraft hosting for an easier process.
##Minecraft's multiplayer mode
Online multiplayer mode is commonly regarded as the heart of Minecraft. To play together on the Internet, however, you need a server that is the gateway to the respective Minecraft world. The available servers differ both in terms of their game modes and in terms of the number of players. As a user, you can search public servers through various Minecraft server lists to find a suitable game world. However, you have no influence on the general conditions of the game on the Minecraft servers of other users - these are specified by the operator of the server. If you want to play online with friends, there may be further restrictions: There is not always enough space for you and your friends on the selected server. You will only have a truly tailor-made gaming experience if you create your own Minecraft server - this is the only way to determine which and how many players are allowed to be in your gaming world. You can also freely adjust the game mode and other settings to your preferences.
If your server is to be publicly accessible and is intended for a larger number of players, it makes sense to rent a Minecraft server for this. Because rented servers are permanently online and have the computing power you need for a larger Minecraft multiplayer mode. So-called dedicated root servers offer the most advantages.
Dedicated Minecraft multiplayer via dedicated root server
A dedicated root server (also called "dedicated server" for short) is a host system on which the full resources of the hardware are available. In contrast to other server types, a dedicated root server offers you the highest performance, which is used exclusively for your projects. As a result, it has a wider range and is less susceptible to lags.
How powerful the dedicated server has to be depends on how you want to use your Minecraft server. The available RAM determines how many users can play on the server at the same time without loss of performance. If you set up a server for a large number of players or want to host many different Minecraft worlds, the server performance must be higher accordingly. A detailed overview of the requirements of Minecraft servers under different operating systems can be found on the Minecraft Wiki.
##Set up Minecraft on a dedicated root server
After you have decided on a suitable server, you can now set up Minecraft. Whether you prefer to host the game on Windows, Mac OS X or Linux is up to you and should also depend on your previous knowledge. The Minecraft Wiki provides detailed instructions for creating a Minecraft server for all operating systems. We show an example of how to create a Minecraft server via Windows:
First, access your dedicated root server.
Check that the latest version of Java is installed on your server. If this is not the case, download and install it from the official Java manufacturer's website.
Now download the program for the Minecraft multiplayer server under Windows from the official Minecraft homepage. Save the .exe file in a new folder and run the file. The server is now configured automatically and files are inserted into the folder. If the server is not loaded, you still have to set that you are the administrator of the server. To do this, simply right-click on the .exe file, select the "Run as administrator" field and enter the administrator password.
